Level 4 Protective Security Adviser Apprenticeship Standard
The Level 4 Protective Security Adviser Apprenticeship has been developed by a cross-sector trailblazer group in collaboration with the UK’s three National Technical Authorities: the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), the UK National Authority for Counter Eavesdropping (NACE), and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
This is the UK’s first nationally recognised apprenticeship to take a converged approach to protective security, delivering integrated capability across physical, personnel, technical and cyber security disciplines. It addresses long-standing gaps in the sector by providing a clear, structured route into and through the security profession, with a focus on modern threats, strategic thinking, and multi-domain risk mitigation.

Protective Security Adviser Apprenticeship – Delivery Model
At Intelligencia Training, our delivery model for the Level 4 Protective Security Adviser Apprenticeship has been designed to develop confident, cross-disciplinary security professionals who can operate effectively in high-risk, high-value environments.
The programme is delivered over 14 months (plus up to 5 months for End Point Assessment) and blends structured online learning, live workshops, and on-the-job development—all aligned to the UK Government’s protective security principles.

Additional Information
Post-Completion Qualification Opportunity
Whilst there are no regulated qualifications included within this standard, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and End Point Assessment there is an opportunity for work produced in your role whilst on programme to be mapped against the criteria for a recognised professional qualification.
Work may be assessed against the criteria for the SFJ Level 4 Certificate in Protective Services, a respected OFQUAL-regulated qualification that validates core competencies in protective security across physical, personnel, technical and cyber domains.
Please note that assessment and certification are not included within the apprenticeship standard and cannot be funded via the Apprenticeship Levy. As such, additional commercial charges will apply.
