2024 Double Apprentice of the Year winner

Regional Intelligence Officer, Trevor Watts, from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency recently completed his Level 4 Intelligence Analyst apprenticeship.

Trevor has been awarded the DVSA Apprentice of the year 2024 and was then nominated for the Department of Transport Apprentice of the year 2024 which was also awarded to him.

This is an outstanding result to achieve especially as Trevor maintained his full-time job throughout the apprenticeship to a very high standard.

Trevor commented: “I’m very proud to have won both the DVSA Apprentice of the Year 2024 and the DfT Apprentice of the Year 2024 and I am humbled by the experience.

My learning journey with Intelligencia on the Level 4 Intelligence Analyst apprenticeship was very rewarding. I found the course content to be highly relevant to my role and very much helped me to develop and hone my skills in my day job. My learning began with a cohort of DVSA colleagues and following my break in learning, continued with a cohort from HM Prison Service. Both cohorts were very supportive throughout, as we shared our learning journey. I have been especially pleased to have become up to date with current thinking and standards within the Intelligence profession. I am particularly thankful to Intelligencia who provided such an excellent course, with superb trainers. The course content was informative and well structured and the tutors demonstrated a very in-depth knowledge of their subject and excellent support and feedback throughout the learning. I very much appreciated the opportunity to train alongside colleagues from another Agency as this allowed me to experience the learning in a broader context than just in my own field.

I also have a very big Thank You to my Line Manager, Marianne Hyde, for the support shown throughout, for both my learning and for making the required allowances and adjustments for me to continue to conduct my day job.

Being in my late 50’s when I took on the apprenticeship, I have hopefully proved that you are never too old to not only take on challenges, but also to succeed.”

Trevor’s manager, Marianne Hyde, Regional Intelligence Coordinator commented: “Trev’s ability to juggle a demanding apprenticeship with his operational workload has been nothing short of exceptional. From the outset, he saw opportunities to improve his own personal working practices, as well as identifying further opportunities to improve practices for the wider intelligence team. His apprenticeship journey wasn’t without its challenges, but his resilience in overcoming them is truly inspiring. His unwavering commitment to learning culminated in him receiving not one, but two prestigious awards – a well-deserved recognition of his achievements”.
